Lasers Shutout the Pride 7-0

Weston, Mass.-Lasell College notched its first win of the season in a 7-0 field hockey shutout against neighboring Regis College on Tuesday afternoon.  Rookie goalkeeper Erin Norton (Yarmouth, ME) was responsible for the shutout as Lasell finished the day at the 1-5 mark overall.

First year Natasha Wood (White River, VT) began things early for the Lasers, making her first tally at less than two minutes into the contest.   Lasell's offense was quick to attack throughout the first period, attempting 24 shots, and registering a total of six goals in the half.

Hannah Cebry (Burlington, Conn.) upped the Lasers edge shortly after Woods first mark, just 3:26 into the contest.  Wood followed soon thereafter with her second goal of the day, and forth of the season.

Tia Pratt (S. Paris, ME) scored off a penalty stroke to the upper left corner of the net, out of reach of Regis' keeper Sara Ankrenud (Groton, Mass.) in the 16th minute for a 4-0 cushion. The final tallies before the break both came from junior Sara Jannuzzi (Glen, NH).  Jannuzzi scored unassisted at both 29:12 and 33:58, just one minute before taking halftime with a 6-0 lead.

Jannuzzi struck again in the second half, though this time she sent a pass to teammate Kasey Looney (Leicester, Mass.) who found the back of the box for Lasell's seventh and final goal of the day.

The Lasers held a large advantage in total shots during the contest as well as outdid the hosts in penalty corners.  Lasell returns to NAC action on both Saturday and Sunday as they head to UMaine Farmington and Thomas College this weekend.
