LASERS’ SEASON ENDS AT FRAMINGHAM STATE

The Lasell College field hockey team completed their 2008 season Thursday, at Framingham State College, with a 0-4 loss to the Rams.

The Rams pulled ahead of the Lasers in the 7th minute of the game when junior midfielder Katie Wotherspoon (Stafford, CT) knocked in a rebound for her first goal of the season.   The Rams took a three goal lead after Kali Barrett (N. Attleboro, MA) scored twice before halftime.

Caitlyn Walker (Middlebury, CT) and Amy Lentini (Wilmington, MA) led the attack for Lasell and kept the Ram's keeper Allesha Kenyon (Westford, MA) busy in net with seven shots.  Tia Pratt (S. Paris, ME) and Hannah Cebry (Burlington, CT) combined for the remaining Laser shots.

Freshman goalie Christine Thornton (Canton, MA) made twelve stops for the Lasers, under constant Ram pressure, and defender Cara Hulse (Danbury, CT) picked up her 5th defensive save of the season.  Thornton finishes the season having made 131 stops in net for the Lasers.

The Rams tallied their 4th goal in the 52nd minute by freshman Kayleigh Force (Leominster, MA), fed by senior Lauren Macuga (Holliston, MA).

Walker finished the season as the Lasers' leading point scorer with 43 total points, which is a new record for individual points in a season at Lasell, the previous record being held by Jackie Motyl in 2006, with 37 points.

The Lasers finish their season at 7-11 overall and 2-5 in the North Atlantic Conference, having made an appearance in the NAC quarter finals.
