LASERS FINISH REGULAR SEASON PLAY; NAC TOURNAMENT ANNOUNCED

The Lasers dropped two NAC games this weekend, traveling to Maine to take on Husson College and St. Joseph's (ME).  After this weekend's games, the Lasers are 2-4 in the conference, and seeded fifth in the upcoming North Athlantic Conference tournament, which begins on Wednesday, October 29th.

The Lasers first matchup of the weekend pitted them against the Eagles of Husson College.  Lasell was outshot 30-10 in the game, and also ended with 10 less penalty corner opportunities.  Lasell's goalie, Christine Thornton (Canton, MA) was kept extremely busy in net.  With the constant pressure by the Eagles, Thornton and the Lasell defense saw much of the action from Husson.

The Eagles opened the game, scoring in the first minute after Thornton stopped their first shot, Elisha Dorso (Farmingdale, ME) scored off the rebounded ball. Husson scored twice more before the Lasers answered with their only goal.  As time was expiring in the half, Meagan DeAndrade (New Bedford, MA) took a penalty corner and found Hannah Cebry (Burlington, CT) in the circle, to score with no time on the clock.

The Eagles found the Lasers net three more times before the end of regulation.  DeAndrade had attempted 5 shots on goal by that point, but Husson's keeper Caroline Bouchtler (Turner, ME) swatted them away, and finished the game with 7 saves.  Thornton finished the game with 17 totals saves for the Lasers.

Sunday, the Lasers faced the Lady Monks of St. Joseph's (ME).  The Monks made quite an impression during their first season in the NAC, finishing in a three way tie for first place this season.

The Monks were dominant in the first half, taking 14 shots to Lasell's one.  St. Joseph's Kayla Nowell scored three times and Alyssa Dunn scored twice, all in the first period.

Down by a 5-0 deficit after the break, Caitlyn Walker (Middlebury, CT) tallied the Lasers lone goal against the Monks, marking her 20th goal of the season.  Walker connected exactly at the 39 minute mark, fed by DeAndrade.

Thornton made seven saves during her time in goal for the Lasers, and Amanda Miller (Fall River, MA) made an additional five saves during her 41 minutes as keeper.

The NAC tournament seedings were announced after this weekend's final conference games.   St. Joseph's, UMaine Farmington, and Castleton finished in a three way tie for first, warranting a tie-breaker for seedings.  Lasell finished in 5th place and will face 4th seeded Husson College once again on Wednesday, October 29th in the quart finals round.  The game will be played at Husson.   The victor of that game will play on Saturday, November 1st.
