HAWKS FLY PAST LASERS

The Lasers' field hockey team traveled to Leicester, Mass. on Thursday to take on the Hawks of Becker College. Though the Lasers had great performances throughout the game, the Hakws defeated the Lasell Lasers 4-2. The Hawks record improves to 4-5 while Lasell drops to 4-6.

The Hawks got on the board just 10 minutes into the game when Victory Sirchia (Goshen, CT) buried a rebound past Lasell goaltender Christine Thornton (Canton, MA). Swiderski then doubled the lead to 2-0 at the 23 minute mark. The Laser's cut the lead in half with just under 3 minutes remaining in the half when Meagan DeAndrade (New Bedford, MA) scores inside the right post on a rebound. DeAndrade is boasting an impressive .412 shot percentage for the Lasers. This was her 7th goal of the season.

The teams played back and forth for the first 20 minutes of the second half. Junior forward Justine McComb (Bloomfield, CT) tied the game when she put back a shot on a penalty corner.

The game didn't stayed tied for long as the Hawks penetrated the Lasell defense and Swiderski pocketed her second goal of the game, with Rachel Fink (Bath, PA) picking up the assist. Swidershki put the game away when she tipped in a cross pass from Katlyn Eisele (Walton, NY).

Thornton, who is leading the NAC in saves and saves per game, scooped up four additional saves in the match.

The Lasers have almost a week's break before their next game at Elms College on October 8th.
