New Haven, CT - The Lasell Lasers continued their winning ways with a doubleheader sweep of rival Albertus Magnus, winning games by scores of 15-5 and 13-6. The Lasers have now scored 10+ runs in six of their last eight games, and have scored no fewer than seven runs during this span. They are now 10-7 on the season and 5-1 in conference play. The Falcons are now 7-9 and 1-3.

Game One

The Lasers wasted no time getting out to a lead in this one, scoring two runs on a Bryan Baumann double in the first. They then extended that lead to 7-0 in the second. It started with a HBP for Ross Audet. After the next batter reached on an error, Christopher Bulk doubled to left field for two RBI. Later in the inning, Matthew Bischof collected two RBI of his own on a single. Baumann then collected his third RBI of the game on a fielder's choice. The offense didn't slow down, as the Lasers added another run in the third on a Bulk sacrifice fly. Jared Whitby then made in 9-0 in the fourth with an RBI double. After the falcons scored a pair in the bottom half of the inning, the Lasers got the two runs right back in the fifth, as Tim Callahan and Connor Freitas had back to back RBI hits. Just as they had done the previous five innings, the Lasers continued to swing the bats in the sixth, scoring three more runs, with two coming on a Freitas single. The Lasers would add a final run in the seventh to win 15-5.

After scoring runs in the final six innings of their previous game, the Lasers extended that streak to 13 consecutive innings with a run by scoring in every inning of the game.

The Lasers collected 14 hits in the game, with every starter recording at least one. Connor Freitas was the star, as he went 3-3, and reached base a fourth time via a walk. He also collected three RBI. Tim Callahan, Bryan Baumann, and Jared Whitby each had two hits. Adam Marsh started on the mound, and moved to 4-1 on the season after 5.1 innings of work. He allowed seven hits and four earned runs, while striking out three. He was relieved by Joseph Ford, who went the remaining 1.2 innings, allowing two hits and an unearned run.

Game Two

The Lasers continued their excellent hitting, scoring three runs in the first inning of game two, extending their innings scored in streak to 14. The first came on a double steal, with CJ Mills coming home. Bryan Baumann then doubled home Tim Callahan before Jared Whitby hit a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0. The Falcons then scored four runs in the bottom half of the inning. The Lasers were unable to score in the second, snapping their streak. After the Falcons added two more in the second to make it 6-3, the Lasers got back on the board in the third on a Matthew Bischof ground out. The Falcons responded in the bottom half of the inning with their own RBI ground out. The fourth was where the Lasers started to turn things around, scoring three runs. The first on a Christopher Bulk RBI single, and the next two on an error. This tied things up at seven. The Lasers then took a 9-7 lead in the fifth on a Bulk two RBI double. Lasell would extend their lead in the seventh with an RBI double from Tim Callahan and a two run homer from Connor Freitas. The Lasers final run came in the ninth on a Jared Whitby ground out that made the final score 13-8.

The Lasers had 15 hits in game two, with Tim Callahan, Bryan Baumann, and Christopher Bulk each recording three. Matthew Bischof and Ross Audet each had two. Connor Freitas led the way with four RBI. Eight different Lasers scored a run. The Lasers used four pitchers in the game, with each going at least two innings. Joey Rego started and went two innings while allowing four hits and six earned runs. Brendan Zaleski picked up the win by going two innings himself, allowing two hits and an earned run. Tim Coakley then pitched three innings and allowed just two hits while striking out four. The final pitcher of the game was Ethan Bernardo, who went two innings and allowed a hit and an earned run while striking out two.
