GNAC: DeOliveira and Tello grab Rookie of the Week honors

Newton, Mass. – Two Lasell University student-athletes in two sports received weekly honors Monday from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) for their performances last week.

Freshman Alyssa DeOliveira (East Providence R.I.) was named GNAC Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week and freshman Courtney Tello (Nashua, N.H.) was named GNAC Field Hockey Rookie of the Week.

A rookie midfielder and forward, DeOliveira scored two goals and added one assist in a 1-1 week for Lasell. She scored her first and second career goals and added one assist in a 3-0 GNAC opening victory over Emmanuel.

DeOliveira has made one appearance this season and currently leads the Lasers in goals, points and is tied for the team lead in assists. She is also tied for eighth in the GNAC in both goals and points.

A rookie goalkeeper, Tello posted a 2-0 record with a 2.00 goals against average and a .789 save percentage with 15 saves. She made 14 saves Tuesday in a 4-3 non-conference victory over New England College, and she needed to make just one save in a 6-1 win over Regis in Saturday's GNAC opener.

Tello is currently third in the GNAC in saves, second in save percentage and fourth in goals-against average.
