NEWTON, Mass. – With the calendar having turned to August, the Lasell University fall sports seasons are approaching and are within sight for the 2021 campaigns. The Lasell athletics schedules have been released and are now available online on the official website for Lasell Athletics – laserpride.lasell.edu.
All six Laser fall teams will open the campaign during the first week of September. The field hockey and women's soccer squads will be the first to take the field, hosting home games at Grellier and Taylor Field on Wednesday, September 1. The men's soccer and men's and women's cross country teams begin their seasons on the road on Saturday, September 4, and the women's volleyball team will open up its match schedule at the Lasell Athletic Center on Tuesday, September 7.
The men's cross country and women's cross country teams will run five regular-season races, beginning at a meet hosted by Fitchburg State University on Saturday, September 4. Other races will take place at Smith College, Elms College, Keene State University, and Suffolk University before the GNAC Championships at Franklin Park in Boston on Saturday, October 30.
The Laser field hockey team will play its first three games at home on Grellier Field, hosting Salem State University, Ramapo College, and New England College on September 1, 4 and 7, respectively. The 11-game GNAC slate begins at Regis College on Saturday, September 11, and the 18-game regular-season schedule winds up on Wednesday, October 27, at home against Colby-Sawyer College.
The men's soccer squad will play road games at Elms College and Suffolk University on September 4 and 5 before a string of five straight home games on Taylor Field, beginning on Wednesday, September 8, against Nichols College. There will be 10 games in September and eight more in October, winding up at home on Tuesday, October 26 against Albertus Magnus College.
The women's soccer team will be road warriors early in the season after hosting the Warriors of Eastern Connecticut State University on Taylor Field on Saturday, September 4. The next five games will be on the road before returning home to meet Dean College on Saturday, September 18. The Lasers will be home for six games between September 29 and the regular-season finale on October 27 against Regis College.
The women's volleyball team will play a 28-match slate, beginning at home on Tuesday, September 7 against WPI. The schedule is laid out to have weekday matches on Tuesdays and Thursdays and a tri-match on most Saturdays. The conference opener is against GNAC newcomer Elms College on Saturday, September 25, and the regular season winds up on Saturday, October 30, with a tri-match at Rivier University with Dean College.
The GNAC field hockey and soccer post-season tournaments will begin on Saturday, October 30, and the women's volleyball tournament opens up on Tuesday, November 2. The GNAC championship contests for those four sports will be on Saturday, November 6, with the winners advancing to the NCAA Championship Tournaments.
