WXC: Lasers place fifth at Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup in New Hampshire

HOPKINTON, N.H. – The Lasell University women's cross country team was back on course Saturday at the Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup, hosted by Franklin Pierce University at the New Hampshire State Fairgrounds.

Freshman Aly Richard (New Hartford, Conn.) continued her streak of being Lasell's top finisher, placing 32nd out of 67 runners in the race. She covered the 5K course in a season-best time of 21:19, averaging 6:51 per mile. Seniors Emma Vierling (Monmouth, Maine) and Shakira Henriquez (Methuen, Mass.) were the next Lasers across the finish line, both in season-best times, as Vierling was 42nd in 22:59 and Henriquez 47th in 24:04.

Freshman Molly Cochrane (Raymond, Maine) was the fourth runner for Lasell, finishing 51st in a season-best 25:08, followed by sophomore Meagan Phillips (North Reading, Mass.) in 56th in 26:09, and senior Emily Hong (Southborough, Mass.) in 57th in a season-best 26:29.

The Lasers finished fifth out of six schools in the team standings. NCAA Division II schools Saint Anselm College (28) and Franklin Pierce (60) were the top two schools, followed by Bridgewater State University (74), Regis College (81), Lasell (139) and Dean College (182).

The Lasers are off next weekend before running their final regular-season race on Saturday, October 16, at the Suffolk University Invitational in Franklin Park in Boston.
