Lasell Women's Cross Country has solid performance at Suffolk Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. – The Lasell College men's and women's cross country turned in some solid results Friday afternoon at the Suffolk University Invitational held at Franklin Park.

The Laser women finished 12th out of 19 teams, including sixth out of seven teams from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), while the Laser men took 16th out of 19, including fifth out of six GNAC squads.

Sophomore Amanda Miller (New Bedford, Mass.) was the top finisher for the Lasers, placing 44th out of 148 runners in the women's race. She completed the 5K course in 22 minutes, 49 seconds. She was followed by sophomore Amanda Hawkes (Billerica, Mass.), who placed 67th in 23:57. The next four Lasers were all close together, with freshman Emma Vierling (Monmouth, Maine) 74th in 24:14, freshman Grace West (Kennebunk, Maine) 78th in 24:26, senior Stephanie Seedorf (Massapequa, N.Y.), 81st in 24:38, and sophomore Maggie McGovern (Worcester, Mass.), 84th in 24:48.

Junior Matt Holden (Methuen, Mass.) paced the Laser men, placing 82nd out of 152 male competitors. He covered the 8K course in 33 minutes, two seconds. Junior Kyle Mullen (West Newbury, Mass.) placed 106th in a season-best time of 35:20. The other Lasers to finish in the scoring were junior Mark Payton (Barrington, R.I.), 121st in 39:01, junior Kevin Wallin (Billerica, Mass.), 127th in 39:53, and sophomore Ben Biello (North Dighton, Mass.), 133rd in 40:42.

The Lasers will be off next weekend, and will compete in the GNAC Championships on Saturday, October 27, at Saint Joseph's College in Standish, Maine.
