Women's Cross Country Team Improves at Gordon Invitational

Wenham, MA (9/23/17) – The Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams returned to action on Saturday competing at the Pop Crowell Invitational at Gordon College.

The women returned to the Pop Crowell Invite hoping to improve from their 8th place in 2016 and accomplished their goal moving up two spots to place 6th.  The women ran well as team with freshman Amanda Hawkes (Billerica, Mass.) leading the Lasers with a 52nd place in 23:04 followed closely by sophomore Karli Manship (Pittsfield,Mass.) in 54th finishing in 23:09. Freshman Maggie McGovern (Worcester, Mass.) finished in 64th while seniors Lauren Lenahan (Weymouth, Mass.) and Shannon Hart (Mashpee, Mass.) finished in 70th and 98th respectively.

The men's team finished 7th overall in a 13 team race with Ryan Dalaba (North Granville, N.Y.) placing 5th overall to lead the Lasers. Dalaba, who placed 16th last year as a sophomore, finished with a time of 28:49 on a warm day. Senior Nick Garifalos (Spotswood, N.J.) was the next Laser to finish in 24th place followed by Kyle Vonick (Weathersfield, Conn.) in 42nd place and Troy Gonsalves (Providence, R.I.) finished in 71st. Sophomores Kevin Wallin (Billerica, Mass.) finished in 87th and Kyle Mullen (West Newbury, Mass.) placed 93rd.  


The Lasell cross country teams will have the next two weekends off returning to competition at the Saints Invitational hosted by Emmanuel College in Boston on Friday, October 13th
