BOSTON, Mass. (9/2/17) – The men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2017 season at the annual Emmanuel Fens Classic on Saturday afternoon.
On the women's side, freshman Amanda Hawkes (Billerica, Mass.) had a strong collegiate debut finishing 12th overall, leading the Lasers to a second-place team finish. Sophomore Karli Manship (Pittsfield, Mass.) was right behind Hawkes placing 13th overall, while sophomore Megan Stella (Warren, Mass.), freshman Maggie McGovern (Worcester, Mass.), and Senior Lauren Lenahan (Weymouth, Mass.) rounded out the top five for the team.
Junior Ryan Dalaba (North Granville, N.Y.) led the way for the men's team with a 17:13 finish in the 5K, good for 4th overall. Junior James Phelps (Westbrook, Maine) and sophomore Matt Holden (Methuen, Mass.) rounded out the top ten with 7th and 10th place finishes, as the men's team collectively garnered a 3rd place finish next to Emmanuel and Husson.
The Lasers return to action on Saturday, September 9 at the Trinity Invitational in East Hartford, Conn.
