Cross Country Competes in 11th Annual Saints Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. (10/15/16) – The men's and women's cross country teams competed in the 11th Annual Saints Invitational on Friday afternoon at Franklin Park.

Over 400 runners represented 22 colleges and universities, with 18 women's teams competing in the 5k and 22 men's teams in the 8k event. Norwich University finished in first place on both the men's and women's race to sweep the Invitational while the host Saints finished in fifth place in the women's race and sixth in the men's race.

Overall, Lasell ran a solid race to preview for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference championships next week. The race will be held on the same course at Franklin Park on Saturday, October 29.

Freshman Karli Manship and junior Stephanie Seedorf took the top spots for the Lasers at 22:28 and 22:51, respectively, both just missing their PR's. Freshmen Alexa Lyham (Westbrook, Maine) and Alexandra Clancy (Beverly, Mass.) each had major improvements, setting a personal record on the day. Lyham clocked in at 28:00, while Clancy was close being at 28:37.

On the men's side, Ryan Dalaba (North Granville, N.Y.), James Phelps (Westbrook, Maine), and Mark Greenwald (Monmouth, Maine) all ran solid races that earned them a personal best. Dalaba came in first for the Lasers at 28:44, while Phelps followed at 29:00. Greenwald rounded out the improved performances with a 29:57 finish.

The Lasers will co-host the GNAC Championship at Franklin Park, with a start time slated for 1:00 p.m. for the women and 2:00 p.m. for the men.
