Women's Cross Country Volunteer at Hope Walks Event

Newton, Mass (9/30/12) - The Lasell College women's cross country team took some time out of their weekend to help give back to the Newton-Wellesley comunity. They served as volunteers for the 3rd Annual HopeWalks Event which helps raise money for the Vernon Cancer Center at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital (NWH).

The event which took place near the Lasell campus on 3.5 mile loop that has often been a training loop for Lasell runners was an overwhelming success. The HopeWalks event saw over 1,000 participants join the worthy cause, and it raised over $270,000 to help improve services available to the patients at the VErnon Cancer Center.

This was the second year in a row that the women's team has volunteered at this event, serving as water station attendants and traffic monitors at the 1-mile mark of the course.
