Boston, MA - The Lasell College Women's Cross Country team opened the 2012 season by competing in the 4th Annual Fens Classic hosted by Emmanuel College. The event featured a 2 mile course for the women through Boston's historic Backbay Fens area and finishing on the track circling Roberto Clemente Field.  The Roger Williams University Hawks took 1st place while Emmanuel College and Wheaton College finished second and third respectively.

The Lasell women's team finished in fifth place, scoring 132 points.

Solange Carpenter (14:10), Jamie Russo (14:10) and Rachel Knuth (14:11) were the top three finishers for Lasell on the women's side, finishing 25th, 26th, and 27th respectively and covering the two mile course with only a second separating the trio. Alaina Eldridge (17:48) and Emily Kochanek (17:53) placed 48th and 49th for the Lasers.

The women will return to action on Saturday September 15th when the compete in the UMass-Dartmouth Shriner's Invitational.
