Missett Leads Lasell at Keene State Alumni Invitational

Keene, NH-- On Saturday, September 3rd, the Lasell College women's cross country team opened the 2011 season at the Keene State College Alumni Invitational.  The two-mile run was held at the Owls Athletic Complex in hot and humid conditions.   The hosting Owls were victorious in winning the invitational, which was a mixed division meet, followed by Division II University of Massachusetts-Lowell, and Clark University in third.

 

Keene State's Paige Mills (Keene, NH) was the top runner of the day, running 5:41 splits, and finishing the course in 11:22. 

 

Lasell's top runner, senior captain Meghan Missett (Lowell, MA) finished the course in 13 minutes and 48 seconds, good for 21st place individually.  As a team, the Laser women earned 6th place, just ahead of fellow Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) member Norwich University. 

 

First year runner Amy Santella (Cheshire, MA) followed Missett, producing a top-30 finish in her college debut.  Santella recorded a time of 14:04 in her first collegiate meet, placing 29th overall individually.

 

Senior Amanda Driscoll (Roslindale, MA) crossed the finish line next for the Lasers, clocking a time of 14:25 in 33rd place while  Solange Carpenter (Gorham, ME) and Jess Smith (Townsend, MA) ended the course just three seconds apart, at 15:11 and 15:14 respectively. 

 

Christina Annicelli (North Easton, MA), Kelly Pigott (Upton, MA), Stephanie Greenblatt (Houston, TX), Samantha Mackie (Dorchester, MA), and Alaina Eldredge (Sandford, ME) completed the scoring for Lasell at the meet.

 

The Lasers next scheduled date of competition is slated to take place on Saturday, September 24th, at the Elms Blazer Invitational, hosted by Elms College in Chicopee, MA.
