Lasell Women’s Volleyball suffers two more losses at Skidmore Tourney

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Lasell College women's volleyball team wrapped up the regular season Saturday with a pair of losses on the second day of the Skidmore College Invitational at the Williamson Center.

The Lasers dropped their opening match to Potsdam State (N.Y.), 3-1 (25-12, 17-25, 25-13, 25-15), and fell in the second match to Union College (N.Y.), 3-0 (25-10, 25-16, 25-19). Lasell ends the regular season with a 13-18 overall record, while Potsdam moved to 13-17 and Union is now 16-11.

Freshman setter Jess Langan (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) represented the Lasers on the All-Tournament Team for her performance in the weekend event. Langan recorded 56 assists and 30 digs over the course of four matches.

Lasell returns home to begin play in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament. The fourth-seeded Lasers will host fifth-seeded Suffolk University Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the Lasell Athletic Center in a quarterfinal match-up.

Potsdam 3, Lasell 1 (25-12, 17-25, 25-13, 25-15)

The Lasers and Bears split the first two sets of the match, with Lasell winning the second set to even the score. Potsdam came back and won the next two sets to seal the match.

Lasell had a balanced attack due to the setting of Langan, who posted a double-double with 20 assists and 14 digs. Senior Olivia Addington (Orange, Calif.) and freshmen Kiana Perez (Juncos, Puerto Rico) Corina Lombardi (York, Maine) tallied six kills apiece, which is a season-high for Lombardi. Sophomore Alysha Rentas (Athol, Mass.) posted a team-high 20 digs, and sophomore Katie Schneider (Covina, Calif.) made two blocks.

Union (N.Y.) 3, Lasell 0 (25-10, 25-16, 25-19)

Addington paced the Lasers in the three-set loss with 11 kills and an impressive .375 attack percentage. She accounted for 11 of the team's 14 kills while Langan finished with 14 assists.  Langan and Rentas shared team-high honors with seven digs each.
