Emerson Defeats Women's Volleyball 3-1

BOSTON, Mass. (10/26/17) – The Lasell women's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to non-conference opponent Emerson College on Thursday evening inside Brown & Plofker Gymnasium.

Lasell drops to 12-19 overall, while the Lions jump to .500 at 13-13.

The Lasers showed life in the third set, and grabbed a 25-23 set win, but the 2-1 deficit proved to be too much, as Emerson sealed the match with a 25-14 third frame victory.

Olivia Addington (Orange, Calif.) led the offense with 14 kills, while teammate Michele Canestro (Castleton, N.Y.) registered a double-double – her second straight – with 11 kills and 11 digs. Caitlyn Garcia (Moreno Valley, Calif.), who recently hit the 2,000 career digs milestone, had 17 digs and Taylor Tiezzi (Meriden, Conn.) recorded 29 assists as Lasell's primary setter. Allie Jo Amos (Prescott, Ariz.) and Kelly Cappitella (East Haddam, Conn.) served two aces.

Kelley Guerra (Randolph, N.J.) swung into a team-best 13 kills and classmate Fara Cohen (Morristown, N.J.) registered 27 digs as Emerson's stat leaders. Grace Tepper (Kensington, Md.) followed with 10 swings, while Moira Brennan (Glenview, Ill.) recorded an overall match best 36 assists to go along with 10 digs.

Lasell returns home to the Athletic Center on Saturday for its final regular season matches. The Lasers will face Anna Maria College and Norwich University in a GNAC tri-match, with first serve against the AMCATS set for 11:00 a.m. Emerson closes their 2017 campaign on Saturday, and will host Springfield in a NEWMAC home match at 1:00 p.m.
