Women's Volleyball Downs Colby-Sawyer in Five Sets

NEW LONDON, N.H. (9/6/17) – The Lasell College women's volleyball team rallied to a 3-2 victory on the road against the Chargers of Colby-Sawyer College Wednesday evening. Lasell won by set scores of 25-22, 18-25, 25-19, 20-25, and 15-12, and advance to 2-3 overall.

The Lasers received double digit kill totals from senior Michele Canestro (Castleton, N.Y.) and freshman Mickayla Shelburn (Waterford, Conn.). Shelburn finished with 15 kills, while Canestro added 11 kills and 20 digs. Senior Taylor Tiezzi (Meriden, Conn.) tallied a double-double of 39 assists and 15 digs, while senior Caitlyn Garcia (Moreno Valley, Calif.) collected a match best 40 digs.

Colby-Sawyer was led by sophomore Naarah Cox (Boston, Mass.). She registered 11 kills and three blocks. Junior Courtney Murray (Quincy, Mass.) also reached double digit kills with 10 to go along with 15 digs. Sophomore Olivia Goodrich (Epping, N.H.) had 31 assists, nine digs and a pair of aces.

The Lasers host UMass Dartmouth and Eastern Nazarene on Saturday, September 9 for a tri-match inside the Athletic Center. First serve between the Corsairs and the Lasers is set for 11:00 a.m.
