Women's Volleyball Drops Close Battle with Emerson 3-1
NEWTON, Mass. (10/13/16) --  The Lasell women's volleyball team dropped a close 3-1 contest to non-conference opponent Emerson College on Thursday evening in the Athletic Center. Lasell drops to 6-15 overall while the Lions shift to 14-7 this season.

In a tightly contested matchup, the Lions took the first two sets, 27-25 and 25-21 before the Lasers struck back with a 25-15 set victory of their own. Emerson downed Lasell in the final set, 25-13, hitting .355 in the frame.

Lasell was led by sophomore Olivia Addington (Orange, Calif.) who posted her seventh double-double with a match-high 22 kills and 12 digs. Addington earned a .226 swinging percentage to lead all players with 24 overall points in the match.

Joining Addington in double figures was junior Taylor Tiezzi (Meriden, Conn.) who served up a match-high 38 assists and 11 digs as Lasell's dominant setter. Caitlyn Garcia (Moreno Valley, Calif.) chipped in with 26 digs defensively, just below her season-best of 33.

Just one Lion was able to reach double figures in kills, as Jules Augustine (Skaneateles, N.Y.) hit a tremendous .407 for 13 kills. Augustine teamed up with Halley Dewey (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) and Lily Marella (Portland, Ore.), who gave Emerson its height for six combined blocks.

Emerson used three different liberos in the match, as Jessica Hamilton, Sam Harton (Cartersville, Ga.), and Fara Cohen (Morristown, N.J.) were all used as defense specialists. Together, the three combined for 32 digs.

The Lasers return to the Athletic Center on Saturday as they host Emmanuel College and Framingham State in a tri-match beginning at 11:00 a.m. Emerson also resumes play on Saturday, as they travel to Bowdoin for a non-conference tri with Bates College.
