Women's Volleyball Splits a Pair of Games at Smith Tri-Match

NORTHHAMPTON, Mass. (9/19/15) – The Lasell College volleyball team went 1-1 with Babson College and Smith College on Saturday afternoon in the Ainsworth Gym. The Lasers shift to 3-11 overall this season.

The Beavers swept the Lasers 3-0 in the opening match by set scores of 25-6, 25-16, and 25-16. Babson used a .846 hitting percentage, a season best, to soar past Lasell in the opening set. Seniors Sharisse Scott-Rawlins (Brockton, Mass.) and Heather Longley (North Granby, Conn.) and freshman Odina Ellis (Providence, R.I.) each recorded three kills apiece in the effort, while sophomore Caitlyn Garcia (Moreno Valley, Calif.) scooped up seven digs.

The Lasers came back to win the second match of the day in four sets against Smith College by scores of 26-24, 25-19, and 25-16. Longley swung into 10 kills to lead the Lasers in the victory, as Garcia backed up the defense with 13 digs. Freshman Olivia Addington  (Orange, Calif.) chipped in with seven kills, while Ellis contributed with five kills.

The Lasers jump back into non-conference action on Tuesday, September 22, when they head to Plymouth State for game time set for 6:00 p.m.
