Women's Volleyball Splits Tri-Match at JWU
Providence, R.I. – The Lasell College women's volleyball team split  a Great Northeast Athletic Conference tri-match at Johnson and Wales on Saturday.  The Lasers opened the day with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-12, 25-13) loss to JWU wrapped up the day with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-22, 25-23) win over Albertus Magnus.
 
Senior Lauren Cordts (Amherst, N.H.) led the way for Johnson & Wales in the win over Lasell with eight kills and three blocks while fellow senior Ann Marie Nowicki (Lancaster, N.Y.) notched nine service aces and two digs for the Wildcats.  Junior Kellen Tensen (New Canaan, Conn.) dished out 28 set assists while senior Kaitlin Kuntz (Boone, Iowa) added a team-high 16 digs and a pair of service aces in the victory.  Freshman Odina Ellis (Providence, R.I.) led the way for Lasell with a team-high seven kills and five blocks while fellow rookie Taylor Tiezzi (Meriden, Conn.) had 14 set assists and six digs in the setback for the Lasers.
 
Ellis led the way for Lasell in the win over Albertus Magnus with eight kills and four blocks while sophomore Cassandra Stout (Plymouth, Mass.) notched 13 digs and two service aces.  Sophomore Caitlin Prete (Milford, Conn.) paced Albertus Magnus with a double-double, recording 11 kills with 10 digs while senior Leanna Velez (Waterbury, Conn.) also had a double-double with 16 kills and 12 digs in the loss for the Falcons.
 
In the final match of the day, the JWU, senior Alyssa Drapeau (Biddeford, Maine) led the way for JWU with seven kills, two digs and two service aces while Tensen notched 26 set assists with four digs for the Wildcats.  Crete tallied a team best seven kills and seven digs while Velez tallied nine set assists and six digs for AMC.
 
Johnson & Wales finishes the regular season with a 15-15 record and an 8-3 mark in the GNAC.  Lasell is now 7-27 overall and 4-7 in the GNAC while Albertus Magnus is 4-21 for the year with an 0-11 record in league play.  The Wildcats have now clinched the fourth seed in the upcoming GNAC Championship and will return to action on Tuesday, November 4th when they host fifth seed St. Joseph of Connecticut at 7:30 p.m. while Lasell is the eighth seed in the conference tournament and will travel to top-seeded Emmanuel College for a 7:00 p.m. match against the Saints on Tuesday Novermber 4th.
