Women's Volleyball Splits GNAC Tri-Match

STANDISH, Maine (10/25/14) – The Lasell College women's volleyball team split a pair of Great Northeast Athletic Conference matches, defeating St. Joseph's College (Maine) 3-2 before fall 3-1 to Anna Maria College on Saturday afternoon. Lasell moved to 6-25 overall and 3-6 in league matches, holding onto the eight spot in the GNAC following the day's action.

Lasell 3 – St. Jospeh's College (Me.) 2

The Lasers secured their third GNAC win of the season with a five set victory over the host Monks. Lasell opened with a 25-21 win in the first set, dropped the second 25-12, bounced back with a 29-27 win to go up 2-1. The Monks responded with a 25-22 win in the fourth set to push the match to five, and Lasell claimed the victory with an 18-16 advantage to take the match 3-2.

Meredith Eagan and Heather Longley posted double digit kills, finishing with 13 and 11 kills respectively. Taylor Tiezzi handed out 27 assists and 22 digs while Cassandra Stout chipped in 24 digs and Caitlyn Garcia and Alyssa Nahigian added 21 and 16 digs respectively.


Anna Maria 3 – Lasell 1

The AMCats took the closely contested four set affair by scores 0f 25-19, 18-25, 25-22, and 25-23 to defeat Lasell. Michele Canestro paced Lasell with seven kills and Meredith Eagan added six kills in the match. Taylor Tiezzi finished with four kills, 19 assists and 21 digs while Cassandra Stout chipped in with 19 digs.

Lasell closes out their GNAC schedule on Saturday November 1st with a tri-match at Johnson and Wales with Albertus Magnus College, after a mid-week matchup against Brandeis University on Tuesday October 28th at 7:00 p.m.
