Rhode Island College Dropped Lasell, 3-0 in Women's Volleyball

NEWTON, Mass. (9/16/14) – The Lasell College women's volleyball team saw a two-match winning streak snapped in a 3-0 loss to Rhode Island College on Tuesday evening. The Anchorwomen earned the straight set victory by scores of 25-21, 25-17 and 25-20. The Lasers slipped to 2-11 overall while Rhode Island College improved to 2-5 for the year.

Odina Ellis (Providence, R.I.) finished with six kills and three total blocks for Lasell, Michele Canestro (Castleton, N.Y.) added five kills and eight digs, while Kathy Cameron (Boston, Mass.) and Heather Longley (No. Granby, Conn.) each chipped in four kills. Caitlyn Garcia (Moreno Valley, Calif.) notched a team-high 10 digs and Taylor Tiezzi (Meriden, Conn.) handed out 20 assists in the match for Lasell.

Lauren Palazzini recorded a match-high 12 kills for Rhode Island College while adding eight digs and two total blocks. Michelle Malbeouf was second with nine kills for the Anchorwomen and Abigayl White directed an efficient attach by handing out 28 assists. Megan Stanzione led the defensive effort for Rhode Island College with a match-best 17 digs to help the visitors contain the Lasell offense.

Lasell will return to the court on Saturday September 20th in a tri-match at Eastern Connecticut State where they will also face off with Southern Vermont. Rhode Island College will host Worcester State on Thursday September 18th at 6:00 p.m.
