Women's Volleyball Drops Four at Brockport

BROCKPORT, N.Y. (8/30/14) – The Lasell College women's volleyball team was swept in four matches over the weekend at the SUNY Brockport. The Lasers fell 3-0 to Brockport on Friday evening, and dropped a 3-0 decision against Ithaca College as well. In action on Saturday the Lasers dropped a 3-1 result against Skidmore College before falling 3-0 to Brockport in the afternoon.

Brockport 3 - Lasell 0

Lasell fell by scores of 25-15, 25-23 and 25-10 at the hands of the host Golden Eagles. Freshmen Meredith Eagan and Odina Ellis paced Lasell with five and four kills respectively. Freshmen Taylor Tiezzi handed out 16 assists and freshmen Michele Canestro finished with a team-high 6 digs.

Skidmore 3 – Lasell 1

The Lasers took the opening set from Skidmore, 26-24 before the Thoroughbreds fought back, taking the next three sets 25-14, 25-17 and 25-22. Odina Ellis posted a team-high 10 kills, while Kathy Cameron added nine kills and 3 block assists and Meredith Eagan and Michele Canestro each finished with eight kills. Taylor Tiezzi and Alyssa Nahigian notched 17 and 13 assists respectively, and Cassandra Stout and Caitlyn Garcia recorded 19 and 15 digs in the match

Brockport 3 – Lasell 0

The host Golden Eagles defeated Lasell 25-15, 25-21, and 25-21 in the Lasers final match of the tournament. Meredith Eagean and Odina Ellis each tallied five kills in the match, and Michele Canestro added four kills. Taylor Tiezzi posted a team-high nine assists and Caitlyn Garcia chipped in win with a team-best eight digs in the loss.

Lasell will return to the court on Tuesday September 2nd when they host Framingham State and Emerson in a tri-match beginning at 2:00 p.m.
