Rivier Sweeps Lasell in Women's Volleyball

NASHUA, N.H. (10/23/13) – The Lasell College women's volleyball team fell in three sets at Great Northeast Athletic Conference co-leader Rivier University, 25-13, 25-20, 25-13. Lasell fell to 14-11 overall and 5-4 in the GNAC, while Rivier remained perfect in the league at 9-0 and climbed to 19-8 overall for 2013.

Abigail Rollins (N. Caldwell, N.J.) and Sharisse Scott-Rawlins (Brockton, Mass.) each tallied four kills on the night for Lasell while adding eight and six digs respectively. Alyssa Nahigian handed out 10 assists in the three set affair.

Nicole Peacock led the potent Raiders attack with 12 kills, while Lauren Silverman notched nine kills and Nicole Boucher and Molly McCormack each added eight kills. Emily O'Reilly totaled a match-high 34 assists and Jessica Amaral posted a match-best 19 digs.

Lasell grabbed an early lead in the opening set at 5-4 before watch the hosts score 10 of the next 11 points to take a 14-6 lead and cruise to a comfortable 25-13 victory. The Raiders continued their strong play to start the second set as the opened up a 10-1 lead before Lasell was able to claw their way back. A pair of aces by the Lasers' Rollins and a kill by Heather Longley (N. Granby, Conn.) helped Lasell close the gap to with two points at 10-8, but the visitors were unable to get any closer as Rivier claimed the second set 25-20. Rivier broke open the third set, turning a 9-8 lead into a 19-11 advantage en-route to closing out the match with a 25-13 victory.

Lasell will conclude their conference slate on Saturday October 26th when they host a tri-match against  Mount Ida and St. Joseph's of Maine with matches at 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
