Women's Volleyball Powers Past AMCats

PAXTON, Mass. (10/17/13) – The Lasell College women's volleyball team earned a 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-14) sweep in Tuesday night's Great Northeast Collegiate Conference (GNAC) women's volleyball match at the Fuller Activities Center. Lasell improves to 12-10 overall, 4-2 in GNAC action with the victory, while Anna Maria moves to 8-11 on the season, 0-5 in GNAC play.

AMCATS' seniors Alex Rodriguez (Puerto Rico) and Kayla Cummings (Auburn, Maine) along with sophomore Jessica Goulet (Lawrence, Mass.) each posted five kills in the defeat. Junior outside hitter Jacqueline Clinton (Walpole, Mass.) led the squad in digs with nine, added four kills and a block on the night. Anna Maria College sophomore setter Samantha Parker (Athol, Mass.) dished a team-high 17 assists.

Lasell College used a match-best 9 kills from Abigail Rollins (N. Caldwell, NJ) and Sharisse Scott-Rawlins (Brockton, Mass.) to help lead the way. Sophomore Jordan Seid (Rowland Heights, CA) and Rawlins both had double-digit digs, Rawlins had a game-high 11 digs, while Seid was one behind with ten. Senior Anna Fetter (Peterboro, NH) had a stellar night for the Lasers with 4 kills, 10 assists, three service aces and four digs over three sets.

Anna Maria returns to action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Albertus Magnus College, first serve is slated for 11:00 AM. Lasell will host UMass-Dartmouth at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday October 17th before returning to GNAC action on Saturday October 19th when they host Suffolk University on senior night.
