Women's Volleyball Splits Pair of GNAC Matches

BOSTON, Mass. (10/11/13) - The Lasell College women's volleyball team split a pair of Great Northeast Athletic Conference matches, falling 3-0 to Simmons College and defeating Albertus Magnus 3-1 on Friday evening at Simmons College. Lasell improved their record to 11-10 on the season and 3-2 in GNAC action.

Simmons 3 - Lasell - 0

The Sharks swept Lasell, 3-0 by scores of 25-20, 25-20, 25-17. Kathy Cameron (Boston, Mass.) hit .333 and Heather Longley (N. Granby, Conn.) added four kills, while Anna Feeter (Peterborough, N.H.) posted 10 digs in the loss for Lasell. After a fast first game, the Sharks came back from a seven-point unanswered run by the Lasers for the 25-20 win. Simmons took an early lead in game three but the Lasers clawed back to within two points, 16-14 before the Sharks ground their way to a 25-17 win.

Lasell 3 - Albertus Magnus 1

After dropping the first set, 21-25, Lasell came back to claim the next three games, 25-14, 25-22 and 25-12. Sharisse Scott-Rawlins (Brockton, Mass.) notched a game-high 15 kills with just four errors for a .306 hitting percentage. Cameron added 11 kills with one error on 19 attempts to hit .526, a season best. Anchoring the Lasers defense was Jordan Seid (Rowland Hts., Calif.) with 20 digs and Alyssa Nahigian (Coventry, R.I.) picked up 36 assists on the night. Falcons sophomore Amber Cohens hit .143 and Melissa Manning added 12 kills in the loss.

Lasell will visit Anna Maria College on Tuesday October 15th at 7:00 p.m. before they return home to host UMass-Dartmouth on Thursday October 17th at 7:00 p.m.
