Women's Volleyball Claims 3-0 Win at Rhode Island College

Providence, R.I.-The Lasell College women's volleyball team defeated Rhode Island College 3-0 on Tuesday night in non-conference action. Lasell improved to 6-5 on the season with the victory while RIC fell to 0-12 overall.

Sophomore outside hitter Sharisse Scott-Rawlins (Brockton, MA) led the offensive charge for the Lasers with nine kills, while freshman outside hitter Abigail Rollins (North Caldwell, NJ) added seven kills and four digs.

Sophomore setter Alyssa Nahigian (Coventry, RI) posted a remarkable outing for Lasell, as she handed out 34 assists to go along with six digs, five kills and four aces. Meanwhile, sophomore libero Jordan Seid (Rowland Heights, CA) tallied 20 digs and five aces for the visitors in the win.

RIC was paced by sophomore outside hitters Michelle Malboeuf (Cumberland, RI) and Lauren Palazzini (Woonsocket, RI). Malboeuf accounted for nine kills, eight digs and two assists, while Palazzini posted nine kills, seven digs and one ace.

After Lasell stormed past Rhode Island College in the first set, 25-10, the two teams went back and forth in both the second and third sets before the Lasers were able to stave off the Anchorwomen and preserve the three-set victory.

Lasell and RIC exchanged several leads early in the second stanza before the visitors closed out the set on a 13-7 run en route to the 25-18 win. Meanwhile, in the third set, the Lasers and Anchorwomen continuously swapped leads until the final stages of the frame. With the score knotted at 20, Lasell finished the evening on a 5-1 run and closed out the hosts on a kill from junior outside hitter Stella Edwards (Quincy, MA) to end the match.

Lasell will return to action on Saturday September 21st when the visit UMass-Dartmouth for a tri-match with Western Connecticut.
