Women's Volleyball Splits Tri-Match at Smith College

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (9/14/13) - The Lasell College women's volleyball team split a pair of matches at Smith College on Saturday September 14th. Lasell opened the day with a 3-0 defeat of Castleton State before dropping a 3-1 match to the hosts from Smith College. After the two matches the Lasers stand at 4-5 overall for the 2013 season.

Lasell 3 – Castleton 0

Lasell defeated the Spartans in straight sets, 25-18, 25-10 and 25-5 to open their day. Talia LeBlanc recorded a team-high six kills for the Lasers, while Abigail Rollins, Samantha Cipolletti and Stella Edwards each notched five kills for Lasell. Jordan Seid led the defensive effort with 20 digs, and Alyssa Nahigian and Jessica Baird handed out 16 and 10 assists respectively for Lasell.

Smith 3 – Lasell 1

The Lasers dropped a 3-1 result to Smith, falling by scores of 16-25, 20-25, 25-22 and 17-25. Abigail Rollins and Sharisse Scott-Rawlins each tallied 11 kills for Lasell and Heather Longley chipped in with nine kills in the losing effort for the Lasers. Alyssa Nahigian recorded 35 assists for Lasell and added 10 digs in the match. Jordan Seid, Anna Feeter and Rollins each totaled 16, 14 and 11 digs apiece, but the Lasers balanced defensive effort wasn't enough to overcome Smith.

Lasell will host Regis College on Monday September 16th at 7:00 p.m.
