Women's Volleyball Falls to 3-3 with Loss to Salve Regina

NEWTON, Mass. (9/10/13) – The Lasell College women's volleyball team was swept 3-0 by the visiting Seahawks of Salve Regina, falling 25-17, 25-6 and 25-17. The loss drops Lasell to 3-3 on the season, while Salve Regina remained perfect, pushing their record to 7-0 on the year.

Abigail Rollins (North Caldwell, N.J.) totaled a match-high nine kills for Lasell and added six digs, Jordan Seid (Rowland Heights, Calif.) finished with a team high seven digs and Alyssa Nahigian (Coventry, R.I.)  handed out 15 assists and added six digs. Erin McGloin (West Islip, N.Y.), Katelyn Beauregard (Dartmouth, Mass.) and Clare Adams (New Concord, Ohio) paced the Seahawks potent attack, notching eight, seven and six kills respectively in the win. Taylor Violet (Tiverton, R.I.) directed the Salve Regina attack to the tune of 25 assists, while Dianna Tauro (Melrose, Mass.) and Jennifer Duggan (Merrimack, N.H.) handled the team's defensive duties, recording 14 and 10 digs each.

Salve Regina opened up an early lead in the first set, taking a 9-1 lead through the first ten points and never allowing the Lasers closer than seven points the rest of the way to collect an opening set win at 25-17.

The Seahawks ran out to another big lead in the second set, going in front 9-1 and cruising to a 25-6 win in set two, going in front 2-0 for the match. Lasell rallied back from a six point deficit in the third set to tie the match at 11-11, but Lasell was unable to sustain the momentum, falling 25-16 in the final set.

Lasell will travel to Emerson on Thursday September 12th for a 7:00 p.m. match before visiting Smith College for a pair of matches against Smith and Castleton State on Saturday September 14th. Salve Regina will return to action on Thursday September 12th when they host Framingham State at 7:00 p.m. before they visit Rivier University on Saturday September 14th for matches against Rivier and Babson College.
