Women's Volleyball Tabbed Sixth in GNAC Preseason Poll

NEWTON, MASS. (8/29/13) - The Lasell College women's volleyball team received 76 points in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll, placing the Lasers in the sixth spot in the ranknigs. Rivier University grabbed the top spot in the rankings, receiveing nine first place votes and 138 total points. 

Lasell returns ten members of their 2012 team that finished 6-6 in GNAC play and earned the eighth seed in the conference tournament. Lasell will look to a pair of sophomores to drive their offensive attack, as the return Sharisse Scott-Rawlins who led the squad in hitting percentage a year ago and setter Alyssa Nahigian who posted a team-high 5.38 assists per set. 

The Lasers will open their season at the Cazenovia College Classic where they will face Gwynedd Mercy and Cazenovia College on August 30th followed by a pair of matches on Saturday August 31st. Lasell will wrap up their non-conference schedule with another trip to upstate New York when they play three matches at SUNY Oneonta at the end of October. The rest of their out of conference schedule will feature matches against Brandeis University, Worcester State, Rhode Island College and a tri-match against UMass-Dartmouth with Western Connecticut State.
