T&F: Lasers Compete in GNAC Championship

Standish, ME- The Lasell Track & Field team delivered one of its most successful meets in recent history over the course of two action-packed days, bringing home a haul of medals, rewriting the record books, and earning scoring performances across nearly every event group.

Leading the way was the men's 4x100m relay team of Max Corson, Nate Gonzalez, Jordan Woodley, and Cameren Candelaria, who captured silver with a blistering time of 44.07 seconds—smashing the previous school record. The men weren't done, as the 4x400m relay team featuring Woodley, Colin Roderick, Amill Houston, and Candelaria earned another silver with a time of 3:40.02, the second-fastest mark in school history.

On the women's side, the 4x800m relay squad of Lezly Acevedo, Ella Meeker, Victoria El-Azem, and Kat Kohtala delivered one of the meet's most jaw-dropping performances, finishing fourth in 10:55.04 and obliterating the previous school record by an incredible 54 seconds.

Individually, Zayshawn Griffin claimed bronze in the triple jump with a mark of 12.72 meters and added a fifth-place finish in the long jump. Nate Gonzalez earned a tie for second place in the high jump, clearing 1.80 meters, and also contributed in sprints. Colin Roderick had a breakout meet, earning bronze in the 110m hurdles with a personal best time of 16.72 seconds, good for the #2 all-time school mark. He added a sixth-place finish in the 400m hurdles, running 1:02.41, also a personal best and the #3 all-time performance.

In throws, Susy Daniels captured silver in the shot put with a major personal best that now ranks #4 all-time. She also set a personal best in the hammer throw with a distance of 27.86 meters, which ranks third in school history. Several athletes also made big strides in the hammer, including Jenna Sargent, who recorded a mark of 25.87 meters (6th all-time), and Lillian Sullivan, who placed 17th with a 25.35m throw.

Sprinter Kayoni Jordan earned silver in the women's 100m finals with a season-best time of 12.93 and contributed in both the 4x100m relay and long jump. Molly Cohen finished sixth in the 5000m, scoring key points, while Colleen Bartel placed fifth in the high jump and also ran in the women's 4x1. That relay team, which included Bartel, Hanna Babek, Kayoni Jordan, and Mikayla Bokis, placed fifth overall with a time of 55.40, the 10th-best mark in program history.

Max Corson threw a personal best of 34.50m in the javelin to finish sixth, now ninth all-time in school history. In the 800m, Kat Kohtala placed seventh in 2:39.00, while Victoria El-Azem delivered a dominant heat win in 2:52.17—a massive personal best—and placed 12th overall. Ella Meeker placed eighth in the 1500m, with Olivia Pennington finishing 12th in that race and later anchoring the women's 4x400m relay, which ran 5:10.25 to place seventh with the eighth-fastest time in school history.

Additional scorers included Cameren Candelaria and Nate Gonzalez in the men's 100m, placing fourth and sixth respectively, and Candelaria again in the 200m, where he finished fourth in 23.19. Roderick, Houston, Woodley, and Candelaria closed out the meet with another strong relay effort in the men's 4x4, narrowly missing gold and posting one of the best times in school history.
