WTrack: DePina Wins Two Events as Lasers Compete at GNAC Championships

Standish, ME - The Lasell Lasers Women's Track and Field team competed at the GNAC Outdoor Championships on Sunday, and despite harsh conditions, won three events and set a new school record. The team finished in fifth place with 75 points.

The star of the day was the newest member of the team in Jasmine DePina. She finished first in both the Javelin (32.94m) and the Shot Put (10.33m). Her mark in the shot put was a new PR. She also posted a mark of 21.82m in the discus. Also having a great day throwing was Sinclair Samuels, as she once again broke her own school record in the Hammer Throw with a mark of 35.66m, good for third place. Rounding out the throws was Riley Silvia, as she placed fifth in the shot put with a 9.14m mark.

Emily VanHouten proved to be the jack of all trades for the Lasers, competing in five different events, highlighted by her first place finish in the 400m Dash with a time of 1:01.39, a PR. She also got a PR in the 200m Dash with a time of 27.23s, good for second. In the field, she finished sixth in the High Jump with a mark of 1.32m. She also posted a 3.91m Long Jump. Her last event was the 4x100m Relay, running anchor on a team with Hanna Babek, Damali Waugh, and Emily Varga. They ran a time of 55.43s for third place. Babek also had a busy day as she ran in five events. She finished second in the 100m Dash with a time of 13.67s, and third in the 200m Dash with a time of 28.77s, She also ran in all three relays. She was joined by Eftihia Fotos, Emily Varga and Lezly Acevedo in the 4x400m relay, a team that placed fourth. Babek was joined by Fotos, Acevedo, and Mikayla Bokis in the 4x800m, and placed fourth.

Up Next - For most Lasers, the season is over, but some will be back at it at the New England DIII Regionals next weekend.
