WTrack: Throwers Shine at Regis Meet

Weston, MA - The Lasell Lasers Women's Track and Field team competed at the Pre-Conference Regis Meet on Saturday, finishing in fourth place out of seven teams with 71 points.

As has been the case, the throwers stole the show, with nine PRs being set in throwing events. Three of those came from Jasmine DePina, as she won the Javelin event with a mark of 36.77m, finished second in the shotput with 10.22m, and fourth in the discus with 30.04m. Jenna Sargent set two PRs with marks of 8.47m and 14.82m in the Shot Put and Javelin respectively. Also setting PRs in those two events was Mikayla Bokis, as she posted marks of 8.39m (Shot Put) and 21.61m (Javelin). Emily Franzik posted a PR in the Discus with a mark of 28.85m, giving her eighth place in the event. Rounding out the PRs was Sinclair Samuels, and she did it in a big way. For the second consecutive week she set a new school record in the Hammer Throw, posting a mark of 34.40m, more than two meters better than her mark from last week. It was good for fourth place in the event. She also placed eighth in the Shot Put with a mark of 8.96m. Finishing up the throws was Riley Silvia, as she placed fifth in the Discus, and sixth in the Shot Put with marks of 29.52m and 9.12m.

The Lasers won two events on the track, and Hanna Babek was involved in both. As an individual she won the 200m Dash with a time of 28.67s. In addition to finishing fifth in the 400m Dash (1:11.25), she also ran the first leg of the 4x100m relay. The team of Babek, Damali Waugh, Adrianna Tassone, and Emily Varga finished first with a time of 55.17s. Varga finished seventh in the 800m Run with a time of 2:46.56, giving her a new PR. Waugh also finished seventh in one of her events, the 100m, with a time of 14.42s. Additionally, she finished fourth in the Triple Jump with a mark of 8.36m.

Up Next - The Lasers will conclude their season with the GNAC Championships on Sunday, April 30th. That will take place at Saint Joseph's College.
