WTrack: Erika Oldham Breaks Hammer Throw Record at Tymann Invitational, Lasers Set 14 PRs

Wenham, MA - The Lasell Women's Track and Field team competed at the Jonathan Tymann Invitational at Gordon College on Saturday. As a team they set 14 PRs and set a new school record.

The highlight of the meet for the Lasers was the Hammer Throw event, as Erika Oldham set a PR and new school record on her final throw with a mark of 27.24m. Her teammate Sinclair Samuels, put up an impressive mark herself with 22.71. Both Oldham and Samuels also set other PRs, with Oldham setting one in the Shot Put with 8.83m, and Samuels in the Discus with a mark of 21.81m. Also setting a PR in the Hammer Throw was Mikayla Bokis, as she set a new PR with each of her three throws, ending with a best of 22.21m. She also set a PR in the Javelin with 18.61m.

Three other Lasers set PRs in the Javelin in Emily Franzik (23.00m), Eftihia Fotos (13.86m), and Jenna Sargent (12.72m). Franzik's mark was good for 7th place in the event. She also posted a mark of 26.87m in the discus. Sargent had another PR on the day, with 8.01m in the Shot Put. Rounding out a strong showing by the Lasell throwers was Riley Silvia, as she posted season bests in both the Shot Put (9.46m) and Discus (31.80m). That performance placed her 8th in the discus event.

The Lasers had two PRs set in the 800m, as both Emily Varga (2:52.54) and Lezly Acevedo (2:48.39) posted PRs. They were both part of a 4x400m relay team that finished in fifth place with a time of 4:38.14. Also part of that team was Emily VanHouten and Hanna Babek. VanHouten posted a PR in the 400m Dash, posting a time of 1:02.54, good for fourth place. Also posting a PR in the 400m race was Lilly Stackhouse with a time of 1:24.75. Babek posted a season best in the 200m with a time of 28.62s, good for seventh.

A team of Babek, Damali Waugh, Delvarie Moore, and VanHouten placed fourth in the 4x100m relay with a time of 53.95s. Moore also posted a season best in the 200m Dash with a time of 30.38s.

Up Next - The Lasers will compete again next Saturday, April 15th, when they travel to Saint Joseph's (ME) for the Monk Invitational.
