Lasell Women's Track & Field competes at Southern N.H. Relays

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Lasell College men's and women's track & field teams sent limited contingents Saturday to the Second Annual Penmen Relays, hosted by Southern New Hampshire University.

There were three from the Laser men's team and eight from the women's squad in the event, which featured nearly 30 schools from NCAA Divisions 2 and 3.

Junior Alex Desharnais (Kingston, Mass.) turned in his season-best performances for the Laser men in the shot put and discus. He recorded a mark of 9.31 meters (30'6.5") in the shot and 23.75 meters (77'11") in the discus, placing 44th of 59 in the shot and 51st of 64 in the discus.

Senior Ben Lane (Rutland, Vt.) placed 11th out of 64 sprinters in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.40 seconds, 0.06 off his school-record time from a week ago. Sophomore Ben Biello (North Dighton, Mass.) placed 42nd in the 100 meters with a time of 12.19 seconds, and took 50th of 64 in the 200 meters with a time of 25.05 seconds.

Freshman Alahna Mild (Bar Harbor, Maine) posted her best time in the women's 100 meters with a time 13.95 seconds, her first sub-14 seconds mark, placing 42nd out of 96 entries. She was also 86th in the 200 meters with a time of 30.09 seconds, 0.01 off her best time. Junior Allie Clancy (Beverly, Mass.) was 59th in the 100 with a 14.34 and 94th in the 200 in a season-best 30.53 seconds.

Also running in the sprint races were freshman Olivia Diogo (Peabody, Mass.), 86th in the 100 with a 15.92; senior Jordan Immerman (Tarzana, Calif.), 109th in the 200 in a personal-best time of 31.53 seconds; and freshman Emily Hong (Southborough, Mass.), 42nd in the 400 with a time of 1:07.90.

Freshman Elise Stanbury (Warren Hills, N.J.) continued her strong rookie season in two throwing events. She placed 51st in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 8.96 meters (29'4.75"), and 45th in the discus with a mark of 21.26 meters (69'9").

Sophomore Allie Jo Amos (Prescott, Ariz.) posted a mark of 21.48 meters (70'6") to place 39th in the javelin, and freshman Sophia Franzik (Wallingford, Conn.) was 41st with a mark of 21.18 meters (69'9"). Immerman was also 51st in the long jump with a leap of 3.51 meters (11'6.25").

The Lasers will be back on the track next Saturday, April 20, at the Sean Collier Invitational, hosted by MIT.
