Lasell Women’s Track & Field opens outdoor season at Wesleyan Classic

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Lasell College women's track & field team opened the outdoor season Saturday, sending 10 student-athletes to the Wesleyan University Spring Classic.

Freshman Alahna Mild (Bar Harbor, Maine) was Lasell's top placer in the 100 and 200 meter dashes, finishing the 100 in 15th place in 14.23 seconds and crossing the line in the 200 in 27th place in 30.79 seconds. Junior Allie Clancy (Beverly, Mass.) was right behind, finishing 16th in the 100 in 14.23 seconds and 28th in the 200 in 30.96 seconds. Freshman Olivia Diogo (Peabody, Mass.) also ran the 100, placing 22nd in 15.96 seconds.

Senior Jordan Immerman (Tarzana, Calif,) competed for Lasell in two events. She placed 31st in the 200 meters in 31.95 seconds and 10th in the long jump with a top mark of 3.94 meters (12'11.25").

Four other Lasers competed in running events. Freshman Nikki Ruggiero (Peabody, Mass.) finished in 11th place in the 800 meters in a time of 2:55.17; freshman Emma Murray (Wethersfield, Conn.) came across in 33rd place in the 1500 meters in 5:48.05; and freshmen Grace West (Kennebunk, Maine) and Emma Vierling (Waltham, Mass.) placed 20th and 21st in the 5000 meters in 23:09.83 and 25:52.93, respectively.

Representing Lasell in the javelin throw were sophomore Allie Jo Amos (Prescott, Ariz.), 11th place with a mark of 23.16 meters (76'0"), and freshman Sophia Franzik (Wallingford, Conn.), 12th place with a mark of 21.24 meters (69'8").

Next up for the Lasers is the University of Massachusetts Corsair Classic next Saturday, March 30, beginning at 11 a.m.
