Lasell Women’s Track & Field places fourth at GNAC Championships

WESTON, Mass. – Lasell College had one podium finisher and placed fourth as a team Sunday at the inaugural Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Track & Field Championships, hosted by Regis College.

Freshman Kylie Danier (Waltham, Mass.) was the top performer for the Lasers, finishing in third place and earning a podium spot in the 100 meter dash. She moved up to third place in the finals, finishing in a time of 13.29 seconds after placing sixth in the preliminaries in 13.55.

Freshman Maggie McGovern (Worcester, Mass.) just missed the podium for Lasell in the 400 meter hurdles, placing fourth in a time of 1:17.74. It was just shy of her own school-record of 1:17.48 set earlier this month. Sophomore Karli Manship (Pittsfield,  Mass.) posted a solid finish in the 1500 meters, placing sixth in a time of 5:38.75, and senior Lauren Lenahan (Weymouth, Mass.) turned in a seventh-place in the 400 meters in 1:04.88.

Freshman Allie Amos (Prescott, Ariz.) represented Lasell in the field events, placing sixth in the javelin with a throw of 20.26 meters (66'6").

Lasell had three sprinters behind Danier in the 200 meter dash; sophomore Stephanie Amato (Westford, Mass.) was seventh in 28.28 seconds and sophomores Megan Stella (Warren, Mass.) and Allie Clancy (Beverly, Mass.) were 14th and 15th, respectively, in 29.77 and 30.29 seconds. Amato was also 10th in the 100 in 13.75 seconds, Clancy and Stella were 15th and 16th, respectively, in 14.27 and 14.43, and freshman Isabella Raffone (Westbrook, Conn.) was 22nd in 15.10.

Also competing in an individual event on the track for Lasell was senior Shannon Hart (Mashpee, Mass.), who placed ninth in the 800 meters in 3:30.42.

Lasell's 4x400 meter relay team (Lenahan, Manship, Amos and Amato) was the top group in relay races, finishing runner-up in a time of 4:28.35. The 4x100 meter team (Stella, Clancy, Amatos and Danier) finished fourth in 54.30 seconds.

Regis College won the team championship with 238 points, followed by Saint Joseph's College of Maine (150), Emmanuel College (149), Lasell (24) and Suffolk University (19).

The Lasers are led by first-year head coach Michael McGrane.
