Lasell Women’s Track & Field show strong performances at MIT Sean Collier Classic

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Lasell College women's track & field team had a strong day of racing Saturday at the MIT Sean Collier Invitational, hosted by MIT at Morrison Track.

Sophomore Stephanie Amato (Westford, Mass.) led the Lasers with solid performances in the sprints. She placed 14th out of 36 runners in the 100 meters with a time of 13.70 seconds, and took 21st out of 50 runners in the 200 meters in a time of 28.25 seconds. Sophomore Allie Clancy (Beverly, Mass.) was 19th in the 100 in a season-best time of 14.18 seconds and 37th in the 200 in 30.18 seconds, while classmate Megan Stella (Warren, Mass.) was 24th in the 100 in 14.50 seconds and 30th in the 200 in 29.62 seconds.

Freshman Maggie McGovern (Worcester, Mass.) posted her season-best time of 1:17.48 in the 400 meter hurdles.

Lasell had entries in both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay races. The contingent of Stella, Clancy and freshmen Isabella Raffone (Westbrook, Conn.) and Kylie Danier (Waltham, Mass.) ran the 4x100 in 56.61 seconds, and the group of Amato, senior Lauren Lenahan (Weymouth, Mass.), McGovern and freshman Allie Amos (Prescott, Ariz.) ran the 4x400 in 4:43.96.

Amos was Lasell's only entry in field events, throwing the javelin 14.97 meters (49'1.75").

The Lasers will return to the track on Sunday, April 29, in the inaugural Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships, hosted by Regis College in Weston, Mass.
