Lasers Record Season Best Times at BU Invite

BOSTON, Mass.- The men's and women's track and field teams competed in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational this weekend hosted by Boston University. 

Senior Ayumi Ranucci (Auburn, Maine) and freshman Alexandra Clancy (Beverly, Mass.) both hit season best times in the 60m dash.  The freshmen duo of Kathryn Czarniak (East Bridgewater, Mass.) and Megan Stella (Warren, Mass.) joined junior Lauren Lenahan (Weymouth, Mass.) to run the 200-meter dash.  Czarniak led the group with a final time of 29.52, followed by Stella and Lenahan, to season-best times.

Sophomore Ben Lane (Rutland, Vt.) and junior Nick Garifalos (Spotswood, N.J.) highlighted the meet for the men were two new school records.  In the 200-meter dash, Lane continued his season tear on the track by lowering his own record, while setting a program best time of 23.31 seconds, .06 seconds faster than his previous mark.  The second record fell in the 1000 meter run by Garifalos, who posted a 2:35.21, lowering the record by six seconds and running a personal best in the process. 

The track and field teams will be back in action next weekend at the Division III New England Championships, where they will compete with the best in the region.  The men's team will complete at MIT, while the women head to Tufts University.
