Lasers Improve at BU Terrier Invite

BOSTON, Mass.- The men's and women's track and field teams competed in the John Thomas Terrier Invitational at Boston University this past weekend. The meet was spread out over two days with the women competing on Friday and the men on Saturday.  The meet featured powerhouse schools from across the nation including some professional athletes sponsored by New Balance, Adidas, and Puma.

Sophomore Jordan Immerman (Tarzana, Calif.) kicked things off for the women competing in the long jump.  Immerman has been consistent all season long for the Lasers, and improved her performance from last weekend by .03 meters.  In the 60 meter dash Senior Ayumi Ranucci (Auburn, Maine) improved her season best by .02 seconds at 8.68.  The last event for the Lasers was the 200 meter dash where freshman duo of Katy Czarniak (East Bridgewater, Mass.) and Megan Stella (Warren, Mass.) both improved their personal best times.  Czarniak had a big day improving by 1.09 seconds and Stella followed with a .23 personal best. 

On Saturday, the men's events was highlighted by Sophomore Benjamin Lane (Rutland, Vt.) with a record breaking performance in the 200 meter dash.  After tying the 60-meter dash record last weekend at the Panther Invite, Lane came out and executed a perfect race running a personal best indoors of 23.37.  The men's mile featured junior Nick Garifalos (Spotswood, N.J.), who opened up his 2017 season running a personal indoor best by four seconds.  Sophomore Ryan Dalaba (North Granville, N.Y.) joined Garifalos in the mile running a season best time in the mile of 5:01.83.

The Lasers will be back in action next weekend at the Wesleyan Indoor Invitational at Wesleyan University.
