Zeig Wins Shot Put as Women's Track and Field Take Seventh at Fitchburg

Fitchburg, Mass. (4/6/13) – The Lasell College women's track and field team placed seventh overall in a 14 team field at the Fitchburg State Jim Sheehan Invitational. Chelsea Zeig won the shot put with her throw of 10.42 meters, the first time any Lasell athlete has won an individual event in this, the inaugural year of the outdoor track and field program. Zeig also finished 14th in the discus with a distance of 24.31 meters.

Talia Gabriel placed 10th in the 100M dash with a time of 14.30 and ninth in the long jump covering a distance of 4.29 meters. Kendall Logsdon finished 13th in the 100M in a time of 14.59. Melissa Cooley clocked a 1:04.47 in the 400M dash, good for 10th place.

Jamie Russo ran a 2:40.91 in the 800M run, finishing 15th overall and Rachel Knuth placed 41st in the 1500M run with a time of 5:57.91.

Kathy Cameron placed eighth in the shot put with a distance of 8.71 meters, and 15th in the discus with a distance of 23.28 meters. Heather Longley was 11th in the shot and sixth in the discus with tosses of 7.82 meters and 26.87 meters respectively.
