WSOC: Three Lasers named to All-GNAC Team for 2019

NEWTON, Mass. – Three standouts on the Lasell University women's soccer team earned post-season honors from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) on Monday with selection to the 2019 All-Conference Team.

Junior back Korynne Provenzano (Stratham, N.H./Brewster Academy) led the group of Lasers, being named to the All-GNAC First Team. Freshman midfielder Bobbi O'Guin (Newton, Mass./Newton North) was a Second Team pick, and senior midfielder Caitlin Rotonnelli (Meredith, N.H./Tilton Prep) was a Third Team selection. The All-Conference Teams are selected by a vote of the GNAC's 13 head coaches.

In addition, Provenzano and sophomore Ailaina Keely (Biddeford, Maine) were named to the GNAC All-Tournament Team following last Saturday's championship game, and senior Kyla Bragg (Sanford, Maine) was Lasell's representative on the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

A 5-6 back, Provenzano earns All-GNAC First Team honors after receiving Third Team recognition the past two seasons. She helped anchor a Laser defense that posted four shutouts and a 0.83 goals against average in 12 league games, second best in the GNAC. A starter in all 20 games this season and 56 of 57 games in her career, Provenzano scored three goals and added an assist this season, one goal each in GNAC wins over Emmanuel College, Anna Maria College and Saint Joseph's College (Maine).

A 5-7 midfielder, O'Guin is named All-Conference after finishing second on the team in scoring with five goals and four assists for 14 points. Her totals were fifth highest among all first-year players in the GNAC and 19th overall. O'Guin tallied a goal and two assists in a victory over Norwich University, leading to her selection as GNAC Rookie of the Week on September 30.

A 5-1 midfielder, Rotonnelli receives All-GNAC accolades for the second time after being a Third Team selection in 2017. She started all 77 games in her Laser career, including 16 this season. She tallied three goals and an assist this fall, including a goal and an assist in a win over Anna Maria. Rotonnelli wraps up her career with 18 goals, 11 assists and 47 points.

Lasell finished the season with a 9-11 overall record under 13th-year head coach Vito La Francesca, and tied for fourth place in the GNAC with an 8-4 mark. The Lasers posted an overtime victory at Suffolk University in the GNAC Tournament quarterfinal, but were eliminated in the semifinals by top-seeded and eventual champion Johnson & Wales University.
