Lasell Athletic teams headed to GNAC playoffs

NEWTON, Mass. – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) playoffs get underway this Saturday, November 2, and several Lasell University teams will suit up in search of a conference championship.

MSOC: Lasell will make its first GNAC playoff appearance since 2015 this Saturday when the eighth-seeded Lasers (6-14, 5-6) travel to top-seeded Johnson & Wales University (15-2-1, 10-0-1) for a 1 p.m. quarterfinal contest. Lasell ran off a five-game winning streak late in the season to secure the eighth seed and earn the playoff berth. The Lasers are looking to avenge a 3-1 loss at JWU back on October 2.

WSOC: Lasell will make its 13th consecutive appearance in the GNAC playoffs this Saturday when the fifth-seeded Lasers (8-10, 8-4) travel to fourth-seeded Suffolk University (10-5, 8-4) for a noon quarterfinal matchup. The two teams finished in a tie for fourth in the regular season, but Suffolk earned the higher seed based on a 1-0 victory at home over the Lasers back on October 9. Lasell won eight straight GNAC titles from 2010-17 before being upset by Saint Joseph's College (Maine) in the championship game a year ago.

FH: Lasell will make its sixth straight appearance in the GNAC playoffs since joining the conference in 2014. The second-seeded Lasers (9-9, 5-3) earned a first-round bye and will host a semifinal game at Grellier Field next Wednesday, November 6, at 2:30 p.m. against an opponent to be determined. Lasell is seeking its third straight appearance in the GNAC championship game and its first team title.

WVB: Lasell is hoping for its 13th GNAC playoff appearance in as many years when the tournament begins next Tuesday, November 5, at the sites of the top four teams. The Lasers (9-20) wrapped up their GNAC schedule with a 5-7 conference record, and currently own the eighth and final playoff spot, but Regis College (4-6) could overtake the Lasers with a pair of victories this Saturday. Lasell will wrap up the regular season this Saturday with a non-conference tri-match at Keene State College with the University of Southern Maine.

XC: Lasell is gearing up to compete with the rest of the conference schools in the annual GNAC Championship races this Saturday at Saint Joseph's College of Maine. The women's race, which will be a 6K course for the first time in league history, will shoot off at 1:00 p.m., followed by the men's 8K at 2:00 p.m. Suffolk University was predicted to capture the women's team title in the pre-championship coaches' poll, while Colby-Sawyer College was predicted to claim the men's title. Lasell was picked to finish ninth in both polls.
