WSOC: Lasell shut down by Johnson & Wales

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Lasell University was on the short end of a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer game Wednesday evening, falling to Johnson & Wales University, 2-0, at Scotts Miracle-Gro Stadium.

Sophomore Jordan Restivo (Utica, N.Y.) scored both goals for the Wildcats, both times assisted by junior Olivia Cairrao (Bristol, R.I.). The first goal came in the 30th minute and the insurance goal in the 61st.

JWU won its sixth game in a row to improve 6-5 overall and 4-0 in the GNAC, while Lasell drops to 3-7 overall and 3-2 in conference games.

The hosts finished with a 13-10 advantage in shots. Freshman Alex Lorenzo (Pawtucket, R.I.) got off three shots to lead the Lasers, and freshman Bobbi O'Guin (Newton, Mass.) recorded two shots.

Sophomore Angela Sanzari (North Haven, Conn.) held down the goal for the Lasers and made four saves. Senior Colleen Lynch (New Milford, Conn.) made seven saves to post the shutout for JWU.

The Lasers return home to host Simmons University at Taylor Field this Saturday, October 5, at noon. JWU also plays again on Saturday, visiting GNAC foe Colby-Sawyer College at 3:30 p.m.
