WSOC: Keene State pulls out win over Lasell; Speight scores twice in setback

KEENE, N.H. – The Lasell University women's soccer team led Keene State College 3-2 midway through the second half Saturday afternoon, but the Owls scored three times in the final 10 minutes to pull out a 5-3 victory in non-conference action at the Owl Athletic Complex.

Freshman Bobbi O'Guin (Newton, Mass.) and sophomore Serena Speight (Biddeford, Maine) scored goals for Lasell six minutes apart in the middle of the first half to put the Lasers ahead, 2-1, a score that stood at halftime.

After Keene State tied the game at 2-2 early in the second half, Speight knocked in her second of the game in the 63rd minute as Lasell regained the lead. The Owls pulled out the win as Kaliana Palhof tied the score at 3-3 in the 81st minute, and Victoria Reynolds scored a pair in the 82nd and 84th minutes to seal the victory.

Lasell finished with a 15-13 advantage in shots, and a 3-1 lead in corner kicks. Sophomore keeper Angela Sanzari (North Haven, Conn.) made five saves in the loss for the Lasers.

Lasell, 0-3, will travel to Tufts University on Tuesday, September 10, for a tough match-up against the Jumbos, beginning at 4:30 p.m. Keene State, 1-1, hosts Emmanuel on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
