Women's Soccer Downs Saint Joseph's Connecticut on Senior Day

NEWTON, Mass. (10/14/17) – In recognition of graduating seniors Haleigh Butler (Melrose, Mass.), Sarah LaClair (Belchertown, Mass.), Casey Meissner (Sandwich, Mass.), and Alexandra Foster (Lincoln, R.I.), the Lasell women's soccer team shut out the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at Taylor Field.

Lasell improves to 8-4 with its fourth straight win and 8-1 against league opponents, while Saint Joseph falls to 8-4-1 and 6-3 against league opponents.

The Lasers dominated the shots column overall, 24-6, igniting the offensive charge in the 26th minute by Sophia DiPlacido (Hudson, Mass.). DiPacido collected a loose ball in the six-yard box, and placed it far post for the 1-0 advantage.

10 minutes later, Carly Zdanek (Newton, N.J.) scored her third goal in as many games, as she flew by a Blue Jays' defender to put Lasell up 2-0. Both teams were held scoreless until the 70th minute of regulation, as DiPlacido scored her second of the game on an unassisted bid.

LaClair stopped all three shots faced on net, and improves to 8-4 with the win. The senior also recorded her 22nd career shutout, a statistic that ranks first all-time in Lasell women's soccer history.

Megan Ricci took the loss in the cage for the Blue Jays, making a season-high 12 saves.

Lasell hops out of conference action on Monday, October 16 for the first time since September 11, as they head to Roger Williams University for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff. Saint Joseph will play its last regular season road game on Wednesday, October 18 at Albertus Magnus at 4:30 p.m.
