Suffolk Snaps Women's Soccer's Conference Win Streak

EAST BOSTON, Mass. (9/27/17) – The Suffolk University women's soccer team used a goal in each half to snap Lasell's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) win streak on Tuesday evening at East Boston Memorial Stadium.

The conference loss hits the Lasers for the first time since 2012, when the championship team dropped two games to Norwich and Saint Joseph's Connecticut, both on the road. The Lasers did, however, go on to secure their third GNAC Championship, and made Lasell College history by being the first athletic team to move past the first round of the NCAA's. The Lasers beat NESCAC opponent Amherst College by a score of 3-1.

The Rams set themselves up for the historic win at 33:03 when Alexandra Nagri finished off a pass from teammate Bela Binggeli. Suffolk's Julia Fielsend stopped Lasell's four bids on goal during the half, and ended the contest with nine saves total.

Suffolk scored its goal of insurance just 1:07 into the second half, as Jennifer Martin scored her second goal of the season on a far side snipe to the top corner of the net.

Senior Sarah LaClair made four saves in net, and drops to 4-4 with the first conference loss of her career.

Lasell returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Regis for their first-ever GNAC matchup with The Pride. Kickoff is slated for 2:30 p.m. in Weston, Mass.
