Zdanek Nets Game Winner in Women's Soccer Victory over Albertus

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (9/13/17) – Junior Carly Zdanek (Newton, N.J.) lifted the Lasell women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory against Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe Albertus Magnus College on Wednesday evening. The Lasers remain undefeated in GNAC play at 2-0 and improve to 2-3 overall, while the Falcons even out at 1-1 in the conference and 2-2 overall.

The match was the first meeting between the Lasers and the Falcons since the 2016 GNAC Championship, as Lasell keeps their conference win streak intact.

The Falcons' defensive mindset allowed the Lasers to dominate the shot column, 36-4, while goalkeeper Lexie Fenn (Oakville, Conn.) recorded a career-high 20 saves in the effort.

After the Lasers were unable to connect on 16 shots in the first half, Zdanek scored the game's only goal in the 73rd minute. Morgan Pinksten (Pelham, N.H.) fed a long through ball to Zdanek on the outside, who found the back of the net for her fourth goal of the season. Zdanek's four goals are a team-best for Lasell.

Sarah LaClair (Belchertown, Mass.) was contested just twice in the effort, and moves to 2-3 overall.

The Lasers return to GNAC action on Saturday when they travel to Nashua, N.H. to face Rivier University at 1:00 p.m.
