KEENE, N.H. -  Junior Carly Zdanek (Newton, N.J.) scored her third goal over two games, but it was not enough for the Lasell women's soccer team as the Keene State Owls downed the Lasers 3-1 on Thursday evening. The Lasers drop their second straight contest and dip to 0-2, while the Owls continue their strong opening pursuit and advance to 2-0.

The Owls wasted little time getting on the board as senior Julia Pearson sent a cross into the box in the 10th minute that found its way to senior Katie Silegy, who fired off a low shot past multiple defenders and the Lasers' goalkeeper Sarah LaClair (Belchertown, Conn.) for the first goal of the game. Shortly after in the 14th minute, senior Taylor Farland doubled the lead for Keene State, as the senior collected a through-ball on the left side and dribbled past a defender and into the box, launching a rocket that landed in the low right corner.

Halfway through the first half, Sabrina Morais (Arlington, Mass.) produced the best chance in the stanza for Lasell, as the midfielder collected a bobbled ball in the box and ripped off a shot, but Owls' goaltender Abbie Terrinca was in place to make the save. Morais had another chance in the 34th minute, finding space in the box and sending the ball towards the goal, but Terrinca was once again there to keep the Lasers at bay.

With 30 seconds remaining in the first half, a composed senior Morgan Kathan found a ball in the middle of the field and sent a ball towards the visitor's goal. LaClair was able to get a hand on the strike, but the ball bounced away from the keeper and the rebound was quickly picked up junior Taylor Bisailion, who raced into the box and slotted it home to give Keene State a 3-0 edge going into the break.

The Lasers were able to get one back in the second half, as Zdanek came flying down the right side of the field and fired off a shot towards an outstretched Shelby Offord, placing the ball into the left side netting in the 79th minute.

For Lasell, LaClair played all 90 minutes and registered eight saves in the loss. Terrinca and Offord split the time evenly between the pipes for Keene State, as Terrinca made three saves and earned the win, while Offord tallied four saves.

Lasell held a slight edge in total shots over Keene State, 20-19, but the Owls had an 11-8 shots on goal advantage over the Lasers. Keene State has now extended their regular season at-home win streak to 11-straight victories.

Lasell will host Simmons on Saturday in the Lasers' Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opener with a 12:00 p.m. kickoff. Keene State hits the road for its first away game of the 2017 season when they travel to Colby-Sawyer for a non-conference tilt the same day at 1:00 p.m.
